A distinctive and characterful coat rack created from an old carved wooden architectural fragment originating from Tamil Nadu in South India. Dating to approximately the 1960s, the richly decorated timber element would originally have formed part of a traditional wooden doorway, where intricate hand-carved ornamentation served both a decorative and symbolic purpose.

The panel features a series of deeply carved motifs including floral rosettes, scrolling foliage, and stylised birds, all executed by hand and softened by decades of natural wear. Traces of its original painted finish remain visible within the recesses of the carving, adding depth, texture, and an authentic sense of age. The weathered surface and patina reflect the craftsmanship and materials of South Indian architectural traditions.
