About Kayu

Kayu brings you the best of sustainable interiors from around the world, with a stripped back, natural look that blends well into both modern and traditional homes. Our newly made, reclaimed wood furniture is produced by master carpenters using timber salvaged from disused and dismantled industrial buildings. The reclaimed woods include elm, teak and poplar - each with a wonderful character and available in a range of finishes to bring out the natural beauty of the materials.

We think that the natural, reclaimed character of the woods we use shines through in all of our furniture. The handmade nature of each piece and the reclaimed timber means that each item is unique, with its own perfect imperfections.

We also source a continually updated collection of vintage and antique furniture from around the world - including both Chinese antique and vintage Indian furniture. These beautiful pieces are each one of a kind, sympathetically restored to keep their original charm, while extending their use for future generations to enjoy.

We take pride in working with independent, smaller ateliers and local craftsmen in order to support communities, creating beautifully made furniture in an ethical, environmentally friendly way. We blend these exclusive pieces with other furniture from UK suppliers who share our values in working in an eco-friendly, ethical and sustainable manner, helping to minimise our collective impact on our planet for the future.

Along with our reclaimed wood furniture and antiques, you'll find a wide array of complementary homewares, including statement floor lights and table lamps, rugs produced from recycled plastic bottles, as well as vintage and handmade pottery, stoneware and ceramics.

You'll find more details about our sources and the materials used in our products here and we are always happy to answer any questions you have about a particular product.

You can view a selection of our range at our showroom in Greengates, West Yorkshire - a large, light, open space in a former mill complex that is shared with our sister company, the oriental furniture specialist Shimu.

We hope you'll love the 'Kayu' look as much as we do - a pure, natural style that makes the most of nature's prescious resources in bringing beautiful, tactile materials into your home.

Our services
As most of our exclusive furniture ranges are made to order, we are happy to discuss alternative dimensions and finishes for your furniture. If you would like to make any minor changes to the proportions of one of our pieces then get in touch and we will be happy to let you know what is possible. We can also source individual antiques and vintage items through our supplier network. For full details of these services click here.

Buy with Confidence
We want you to be delighted with any purchase you make from Kayu. While we are confident this will be the case, we offer a returns policy that gives you complete peace of mind. If you order online or by phone, you will have a 14 day cooling off period from the moment your item is delivered. Just let us know in writing or by email that you wish to cancel the order. We will then have the item picked up at our expense and provide you with a credit or full refund for the item as soon as we receive it back safely. We simply ask that the item is returned to us in an unused condition and suitably packaged. For full details see our terms and conditions.
