Introducing the Ibo Reclaimed Wood range
Nkuku recently launched it's latest collection for Spring / Summer 2024 and the new range of furniture and homewares includes a wonderful selection of ethically sourced kitchenware, soft furnishings, lighting and much more. Amongst the gorgeous new pieces what caught our eye most was the wonderful new Ibo range of cabinets and tables.
Each item in this range is produced from reclaimed wood, recycled from old commerical vehicles in India. The wood has had a varied past travelling sun-parched, dusty roads, forming the rear and side panels of trucks as they transported goods back and forth across the country. With the vehicles no longer in use, the timber has found a new life in this striking range, with each piece rich in rustic character formed from the wood's weathered tones and individual imperfections.
The range celebrates the ingenuity and verstility of Indian craftsmanship in repurposing these old timbers. Each item varies in terms of the tone and colour of the wood, authentic texture and even the individual knots and splits in the grain which enhance its rustic charm. Solid and heavy, the designs are simple, with the focus on the chunky wood and wonderful character of the reclaimed material. Perfect for a living room or dining room, the pale, natural finish of the wood creates a calming, relaxed look that fits easily into most interiors.
We hope that you love the rustic, unique nature of these cabinets and tables as much as we do. In a world of mass-produced, homogeneous products, these beautiful pieces provide a refreshing change, with their tactile feel and unique imperfections.
