Round Cornered Elm Cabinet
Shandong, circa 1920
This lovely cabinet is from Shandong province in northeast China and has been stripped back to reveal the beautiful natural elm wood. Produced in a classic style with 'round corners,' this simple cabinet is in an ingenious design with no metal hinges. The rounded sides fit into the top and extend down to create the cabinet's legs. Its door panels are set within rounded frames that fit directly into the top surface and bottom frame. Contrasting dark brass hardware are centrally positioned with simple ring handles. Inside is a fixed shelf with two useful drawers and a removable central post to allow for accessible storage.
