Pair of Large Antique Camphor Carved Panels
Jiangsu, circa 1880
These intricate carved panels stand at over two metres high and would once have been used as part of an internal divider in a home in China's Jiangsu province. The main sections are in camphor wood, beautifully carved in a lattice design that incorporates flowers and birds as well as bats - a symbol for good luck in China. The upper sections are in carved relief to show a floral pattern. The panels could be used to day as a screen or room divider or even as a feature headboard.
Sold as a pair, the price shown is for the pair of panels.
