Carved Large Xinjiang Sideboard
Xinjiang, circa 1900
This impressive sideboard was produced as a large daybed in China's Xinjiang province but has been cut down in depth and adapted for use as a more practical storage cabinet. The five doors in the front would once have been fixed panels, but still have the original relief carvings on the front in attractive geometric patterns. Originally brightly painted, the sideboard has been stripped back to the natural, pale colour of the pine and poplar wood. Great for storage as a dining room sideboard or in a living room, the sideboard is also a good height to use as a stand for a large wide screen TV.
