Black Lacquer Chinese Temple Cabinet
Shanxi, circa 1860
With the old black lacquer finish worn on the upper surface, this lovely antique Chinese cabinet would add real character to any room. It dates from the mid nineteenth century and was made in Shanxi province, central China. The outer frames taper upwards in a classic Chinese design, with the doors mounted on wooden dowels. Made from elm wood and with a single drawer above the doors with a floral motif in carved relief, it has a lovely patina developed over years of use.
